(Although Carrie Bradshaw, the character played by Sarah Jessica Parker, was said to live on East Seventy-third Street, her comings and goings were actually filmed on Perry.) The tourists take turns sitting on the stoop and posing for pictures, and after twenty minutes or so they return to a bus on Hudson, near the Magnolia Bakery, eager to move along to Hotel Venus, the next stop on whats known as the Sex and the City Tour. They pay thirty-seven dollars for the privilege.

Long time no talk! This dreary 9.11 anniversary reminds me of where I was last year and of the cool and refreshing glass of water that you handed me when I walked in your door that morning. I think it was the most delicious sip of water of my life because it cut through my panic! I know it’s been a while, but I’m reminded of your hospitality and kindness.

Ele também indica outro artigo engraçadinho, desta vez da Slate que dá idéias para outras modificações em relançamentos de filmes de Steven Spielberg, já que ele alterou ET (que re-estréia esta semana) para ser menos “agressivo”. Em uma cena uma mãe diz que o filho fantasiado parece “um hippie”, quando no original parecia “um terrorista” e os guardas no final apontam walkie-talkies para as crianças, ao invés de espingardas.

Mesmo eu tendo que, no sábado, acompanhar três mulheres às compras (Renata e duas amigas do Rio que vieram no visitar), consegui sobreviver e fomos ao sensacional show do Rockapella. O que posso dizer? Eu gosto do Rockapella (e outros grupos 100% vocais) pelo domínio que eles demonstram sobre suas vozes, fazendo um show inteiro sem um instrumento musical sequer. E depois de ver Jeff Thacher mostrar porque é considerado uma bateria viva… caramba, é difícil acreditar que o cara faz tudo aqui só com a voz. Alguns “percussionistas vocais” ainda dão uns tapas pelo corpo para fazer um barulinho, mas o cara faz tudo no gogó. Até quando ele inspira sai som para a “bateria”. Ele canta com uns pequenos microfones colados no pescoço para ajudar a captar os sons mais profundos, mas é tudo na boca e garganta. Demais… me fez agradecer por morar em NY e poder ver esse tipo de coisa.

Já ontem, passadinha rápida da Best Buy para comprar a webcam para os meus pais e depois sentar e curtir o NY Giants passar por cima do Philadelphia Eagles na TV. O jogo foi quase do lado da minha casa, no Giants Stadium, mas como descrito em outra nota, é simplesmente impossível conseguir ingressos, então tive que ver na TV mesmo.

Que jogo! Para quem não entende de futebol americano (99% de quem não é americano) é difícil entender, mas basta dizer que se vencermos o jogo semana que vem vamos ao Superbowl, o maior jogo do ano e o maior evento da televisão no ano. O Superbowl faz tanta grana em publicidade que as redes de TV se revezam todo ano para transmitir o jogo. Esse ano é a vez da CBS, que depois do jogo vai passar o primeiro capítulo de Survivor 2, aproveitando o “embalo” da audiência.

Foi um fim-de-semana tão movimentado que até esqueci de jogar EverQuest… hehe…
